You Landed Your First Internship: Now What?

 

Internships give you the opportunity to learn about different company cultures in America.  It is a great opportunity for you to learn more and explore your career choice and path.

Twelve Tips to Be an Outstanding Intern:

  1. Be on time.
  2. Speak up and contribute.  Don’t be a wallflower.
  3. Volunteer for anything and everything. Be a good listener and participate.
  4. Take notes during meetings and assignments.  Try to learn as much as possible.
  5. Don’t be afraid to stand out.  Be outstanding.
  6. Ask questions.  Show interest in every project.
  7. Always be nice to everyone and ask to do more.
  8. Be hirable. Be indispensible.
  9. Express enthusiasm.
  10. Everyone knows you are learning.  Don’t be afraid to make mistakes.
  11. Have the right mindset to succeed.
  12. Dress the part.  Ask about the company dress code before your first day.  Be prepared to adjust and add to your wardrobe.
