Uber Etiquette
Uber etiquette! Does it exist?
Uber is an American company based in San Francisco. Uber markets and operates the mobile app which allows the consumer to tap and request the closest car to take them where they need to go. Uber drivers use their own cars to transport passengers. At the end of 2015, Uber was worth an estimated $62.5 billion dollars
Here is what you need to know about Uber Etiquette
- Do not call until you are ready. That’s right. Do not request an Uber until you are dressed, packed and headed out the door. Do not call until the movie is over or you have completely made that last purchase. If you are in a location and you are not sure how long it will take a driver to get to you, check your app to see how close he is to you. Use your best judgment but be aware that their goal is a quick pick up.
- Mind your manners and use your common sense. Do not put your feet on the seats, eat, drink alcohol or change diapers in the car.
- If you need to make a call, do so but be aware of the tone of your voice and speak quietly.
- Sit in the back seat. Most passengers sit in the back seat on the right side.
- Some drivers will offer to open the car door for you but do not expect it.
- Do not expect help with your luggage. This depends on the driver.
- Avoid texting your driver. He is driving!
- Be polite. Say “good morning/evening”, “thank you” etc. when entering or leaving their car.
- Rate your driver. He rates you too!
