How To Be More Interesting: Part 1

When presenting business etiquette programs for corporations, I often recommend to get out and lead a “rich full life” for many reasons.   If you want to be more interesting, a great guest at a dinner party, or a better conversationalist, get out and explore.  Don’t be a wallflower, or the person who has nothing to contribute on Monday morning when everyone is getting their first cup of coffee talking about their weekend. Explore ideas, places, and opinions.  Share.  This allows others to live vicariously through you, therefore you can become more interesting.  An easy place to start is the museum.  Most cities have them.

Whether you are a fashionista or not, you might want to check out Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The exhibit explores the idea of Miuccia Prada and Elsa Schiaparelli having a conversation about the similarities of their design,  Since Shiaparelli died in 1973, she and Miuccia Prada did not actually meet.  You can read more about the exhibit on Vogue’s website.

Another favorite museum of mine is the Frick Collection in New York.  Renoir, Impressionism, and Full-Length Painting, is on exhibit until May 13.  According to the Wall Street Journal, “It’s a show that, despite its modest size, goes a long way to rehabilitate Auguste Renoir’s reputation”.  The show consists of just nine pictures.

So go ahead, get out and enjoy life. Thanks for reading.
